My Linksys N400 started getting slow and completely stopped responding this morning. Â The only way I could get back into it was with a 30-second pin reset. I lost all of my DHCP reservations, of course, but those were a lot easier to restore than local DNS.
I set my local search domain to “lan” rather than the typical “local” on my local machine. Â Easier to type.
Under Services turn DNSMasq and Local DNS on, and the important part: set LAN domain to ‘lan’. Once this was set it started working, looking up the addresses from the names set in my DHCP reservations.
You can also hardcode addresses in the “Additional DNSMasq Options” box like this:
address=/clientname/192.168.0.5
Hopefully this will help someone, mostly my future self.
